On April 12, 2014, KBXX 97.9 The Box radio station held the Houston Fit Family Expo at Minute Maid Park from 10AM-6PM with musical guests: K. Michelle, Marsha Ambrosius, Sevyn Streeter, Kid Ink, and We Are Toonz.
The Houston Fit Family Expo was designed to enlighten everyone why it is important to get healthy. The expo set out to educate the community on different health conditions, how to prevent them, and the importance of eating right and working out on a regular.
“It is important that everyone knows why they should live healthy,” said J-Mac, 97.9 The Box radio personality. “This was a good event because not only did people have a chance to get educated about their health, they were also able to do it with their families.”
The expo was family friendly. Besides the different vendors who were set up informing individuals about different ways to be healthy and get fit, there were many activities for the kids like moonwalks and basketball games for them to enjoy.
“There is so much here to do. I’m here with my sister and my nephews, and my nephews are having a ball with all the moonwalks and other activities,” said Carltricia Matthews, an attendee of the expo.
Along with families getting informed on ways to live healthier, they were also able to enjoy a concert and shed a few pounds dancing with the most current musical artists.
“You really couldn’t have asked for a better event. An event that the whole family can attend, get educated, have fun, and enjoy a concert; you can’t beat it,” D’Mia Thompson, an attendee of the expo.
97.9 The Box brought out the community with their Houston Fit Family Expo. They allowed families to partake in an inexpensive outing as well as leave with knowledge on how they can live longer, healthier lives together. CGM
