Janelle McCalla: Our M.A.D.E. Angel

Monday, December 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. our April City Girl of the Month and creator of M.A.D.E. Cosmetics, Janelle McCalla, lost her battle with cancer. She battled Signet Ring Cell Adenocarcinoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer and she fought a good fight. We want to take the time to acknowledge the phenomenal woman who left us.
I had the pleasure of meeting Janelle on two occasions. I interviewed her during a budoir photo shoot and a network-marketing event where she was launching her new products for her cosmetics line. Instantly, I noticed her genuine spirit. Her positivity and determination was an inspiration to me.
“The key is to just get started and don’t doubt yourself,” said Janelle. Turn that passion into your paycheck. That is the greatest reward you could ever receive.”
That’s exactly what she did. She incorporated her love for makeup and entrepreneur spirit, and created a collection of her own, M.A.D.E. Cosmetics. (The acronym stands for “Marvelous All Day Everyday”). She manufactured all the cosmetics herself by researching products to make sure she put the most natural products in her cosmetics.
Janelle took her passion and made more than a paycheck, she created a brand that has been stamped and sealed. M.A.D.E. Cosmetics is not going anywhere. One of her dear friends has taken over the business and is making sure Janelle’s legacy remains.
Although she is no longer with us, it is evident that her spirit still lives in those who were blessed with the opportunity to meet her. We may mourn her passing but we can celebrate the life she lived and the lives she touched in her brief time here. Janelle McCalla was definitely M.A.D.E. CGM
