One Sunday afternoon, while downtown looking for the answer to my hunger pains I decided to check out Mia Bella Trattoria. Normally, I’m a very particular about the places I dine at. But I went out on a limb and gave them a try. I must say that I don’t regret my experience either. First of all, the service was great and made me feel right at home. This, goes hand in hand with the intimate atmosphere. After looking at the menu and I realized they offered the most food for the least amount of your hard earned money. Their brunch special comes second to none and is offered Saturdays as well as Sundays. If you like Mimosas, Bellini’s and fine wines Mia Bella’s could become your best friend. They offer indoor/outdoor dinning and private parties are available upon request. The food was great and was prepared exactly as I wished. That was my first but definitely will not last visit. (Definitely rearrange the wording here)
In addition to their awesome (you can choose another adjective here) brunch menu, they also have a great happy hour throughout the week. This includes :
$3.00 Happy Hour specials Mon-Fri., a reverse happy hour kicking off at 9pm Thurs. to Sat. along with some live entertainment. And this is just the two downtown locations, there are also two other locations to choose from that may be of convince.
Before leaving Austin Texas, Kerbey Lane Café was the perfect place to grab a bite to eat to wrap up our SXSW weekend. As we pulled up to Kerbey Lane Café, it was nestled between a small local retailer and another café which also had a nice crowd. You can definitely see that this was the popular area for brunch as cars were parked up and down the streets and people were crowded around the area. Since the weather was nice, people were able to dine inside or outside.
Now on to what you guys really want to know about: the food. We had a party of five and the orders ranged from the Kerbey Scrambler, which is eggs scrambled with home-fries, mushrooms, tomatoes, green onions and cheddar-jack cheese served with two breakfast sides to the French Toast Platter, which is four triangles of french toast, two eggs and choice of fruit, bacon or all-natural sausage to an Egg Florentine, which is sautéed spinach, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce atop an English muffin, served with a choice of one breakfast side. There was also a specialty pancake of the day, which was peanut butter with a dollop of Nutella on top. For drinks we had Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and Bellinis that ranged from $2.00-$4.00. Between the five of us, no one’s bill surpassed twenty dollars, if that.
To say that everything was delicious would be an understatement. Not to mention, majority of their ingredients are fresh from local farms. To sum it all up, brunch at Kerbey Lane Café was great: from the relaxed ambiance, to the friendly staff, and most importantly the food. You just better get there early because there will be a lengthy wait, but the wait will be worth it. So if you are ever in Austin, Texas, stop by one of their five locations.
